estled among the calm serenity of Burlington's landscape, there's a stir of vibrancy and inspiration—Joseph Tassoni. He is a man whose story seamlessly stitches the threads of artistic expression with an unwavering sense of purpose and belonging. Let's travel back to a poignant snapshot from Tassoni's past: a five-and-a-half-year-old Joseph wielding Crayola scissors, reshaping his mother's curtains into outfits for his sisters. From that tender age, Tassoni had an unmistakable connection with creation. Through it, Tassoni sought solace, peace, and an authentic way to connect with the world around him. Fast-forward to his formidable years in the corporate apparel world—a period spanning almost two decades. From the humble errands of fetching coffee to the intricate art of pattern-making, brand management, and marketing. And while many would bask in the comforts of corporate life, Tassoni yearned for more, each role, no matter how insignificant it seemed—a dream to launch a brand that was unapologetically Canadian and genuinely his own. Tassoni's dedication to giving back is deeply touching. From his first fashion show at 15, aimed at supporting a little girl with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, to working with many charitable organizations, his fashion journey resonates with altruism and community. Since then, his legacy has been adorned with collaborations with over 20 philanthropic organizations, making him not just a designer but a crusader for causes.

But let’s remember the star of the show: His collection. For Fall/ Winter & Resort 2024, we see a canvas painted with timeless classics. Every piece is an “investment” in the truest sense—crafted to endure time and trends, becoming a cherished companion in one’s wardrobe.
From the tulip parkas to the gender-fluid gloved shrugs to nylon jackets, which find harmony with evening wear, every design is a testament to embracing oneself wholly and unapologetically. Tassoni’s designs scream genuine and heartfelt inclusivity—he believes fashion should empower everyone to enter their unique light, and his collection vividly echoes this sentiment.
His recent “RUNWAY & CHARITY SHOW,” held at the Art Gallery of Burlington, was not just a display of clothing but a spectacle beyond fabrics and cuts. Tassoni’s inspiring call to the world highlighted the pressing and often overlooked mental health issues. While the world increasingly acknowledges the pressing concerns surrounding mental health, especially among the youth, Tassoni employs fashion as an advocate for change. He envisions garments as shields, as armour, guiding us through the turbulent battlefields of life.

“I believe that fashion is a huge conductor in addressing societal issues. In my opinion, your garments are your shield, and this physical armour helps you face your everyday life. It is important to feel united with this armour, as it will help support and empower you to accomplish any goal or challenge set in front of you. I believe fashion is constantly evolving as societal issues are, and it is important to be united with your garments and how they represent you.”
—Joseph Tassoni.
His fashion becomes a dialogue—a conversation about acceptance, support, and healing.
In a heartfelt vision, he expresses:
“Since before the pandemic, Mental Health and Youth have been critical issues. Through the pandemic, we could see how critical it is to support people in crisis. I mentor and speak at many universities, colleges and high schools, and I can see first-hand the importance of inspiring the youth and showing them It’s OK to feel how you’re feeling and to embrace who you are. I have spent much more time visiting locations throughout the GTA and Halton, and I can see a rise in mental health issues among the youth. After visiting multiple mental health wards, people with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression are all put in the same therapeutic room. If one of these people has a crisis, they can trigger the other patients in the room. What I wanted to do through my show was to be able to help physically purchase items, under the safety guidelines provided by the hospital, to help revamp that room and make it more of a healing space for those in it.”

The runway pulsated with energy, with every step taken by the diverse pantheon of celebrities, community leaders, and gender-fluid models, each representing a facet of society often left in the shadows. They were all the torchbearers of Tassoni’s message of individuality and self-expression. And the audience? Glimmers of joy, waves of inspiration, and torrents of hope painted the gallery that evening. Tassoni is already gazing at the horizon with the “RUNWAY & CHARITY SHOW” euphoria still fresh. His plans are brimming with anticipation for the next show, where he promises to continue his story, which celebrates individuality, inclusivity, and the beautiful journey of self-love.
