AMA's LOOM
Threads of Resilience
Textiles hold a special significance to me, and the collection “Ama’s Loom: Threads of Resilience” draws deeply from my Bhutanese roots, where textile weaving is an art steeped in rich tradition. The significance of this collection is deeply personal to me, interwoven with cherished childhood memories and my mother’s enduring legacy as a master weaver.
Growing up, I was surrounded by the rhythmic sound of the loom and the vibrant colours of handwoven textiles. My mother, a skilled weaver, was a guiding light in my life. Her meticulous craftsmanship and dedication to her art supported our family, and her love for weaving sparked my lifelong passion for textiles.
For my mother and countless weavers across Bhutan, weaving transcends craft—an expression of cultural pride, spirituality, and identity.
In “Ama’s Loom,” I’ve blended traditional Bhutanese weaving elements with contemporary designs to create ready-to-wear and couture pieces that are both timeless and modern. Each motif, pattern, and technique carries the wisdom and stories of our ancestors. With this collection, “I pay tribute to the women who pour their hearts, hopes, and dreams into every thread, creating a rich tapestry of heritage and beauty.”
